BRICK Mag joins #startupmall with a free darkroom and co-working space

Independent hip-hop music magazine, BRICK, is setting up shop in Kings Mall offering co-working space, a free to use darkroom, and a camera repair service for local photographers!

Running from May 15th, BRICK Magazine will begin to create the next issue of the magazine from their store in Hammersmith, offering an insight into the production process of the next 244-page print edition of the magazine. Their current issue features Dave, The Specials, Noname and Dijon across its four covers. This will be available to purchase, alongside exclusive merchandise and sold-out back issues of the title, within the retail space.

Visitors to the store will be able to benefit from:

  • A camera repair shop for aspiring photographers to bring in their camera to be fixed by an experienced technician.
  • A fully equipped black and white darkroom, including introductory lessons to darkroom printing. Sessions in the darkroom can be booked here.
  • A tremendous opportunity for prospective photographers to come in and learn the ropes of the business.
  • Use of the darkroom, entry to all workshops and use of the co-working space will be free, while the repair shop will charge on a case-by-case basis.

Hayley Louisa Brown, founder of BRICK, says: “As BRICK expands into a brick and mortar space for the first time, it is exciting to be able to use the space to help young creatives to learn new skills and gain access to new opportunities. Our previous work with the next generation of photographers and writers has always been incredibly inspiring, and we’re looking forward to continuing in that vein with our Kings Mall space.”
